The Scout Brigade of Fort George 2022

The 22nd Markham Scout Group kicked off the year with The Scout Brigade at Fort George Camp in Niagara-on-the-Lake, setting a strong tone for teamwork and adventure. We then rolled up our sleeves to plant trees across the community, combining outdoor skills with lasting environmental stewardship. Our group continues to grow — we now have over 80 members, bringing more energy and ideas to every activity. Together we raised $8,300+ for World Vision’s 6K for Water program, supporting access to clean water for communities in need. We collected 125 boxes for Operation Christmas Child, sharing gifts and hope with children during the holiday season. Thank you to every Scout, leader, and volunteer for your dedication and hard work this year. 🎁

Around the World in 60 Days

We begin this scouting year with multiple fall hikes; one 18km another one 6km. We are continue writing our journey with community services, and ending with Paddling Back In Time Canoe Camp along Grand River!

Can you beileve it, we won funding from Grizzly Den for our canoe trip and prize from Chilly Moose for our community involvement. Way to go 22nd Markham!

This year tested our resilience as the pandemic forced us to move meetings from in-person to virtual, yet our Scouts adapted and stayed connected. Switching online allowed us to meet and build friendships with Scouts from Taiwan, enriching our program with new perspectives and shared experiences. We mourn the loss of our beloved Scouter Wing‑Leung Lam. His dedication and kindness left a lasting impact on our group and he will be deeply missed. Despite the difficulties, we remain proud of how our members supported one another and kept Scouting alive in new ways. We honour Scouter Wing‑Leung Lam by carrying forward the values he taught us and continuing to serve our community.

Beyond our outdoor adventures and fun programs, the 22nd Markham Scout Group is deeply committed to serving our community. We pair active, skill-building pursuits with volunteer projects, environmental stewardship, fundraising for global causes, and seasonal drives that bring people together and make a measurable difference in Southern Ontario and beyond.

Our Scouts have left footprints across Southern Ontario and beyond, traveling as far as Nova Scotia to take part in CJ 2017. These journeys broaden horizons, strengthen friendships, and showcase the 22nd Markham Scout Group’s spirit of adventure and commitment to national Scouting events.

2014-15

22nd Markham Scout founded in 2014 by Scouters Henry Fok, Vivian Hui and Wing-Leung Lam. We began as a very small scout group with only 4 Cub Scout in our (Pack) section. Within two months, we formed Venturer (Company) section and more youth joined 22nd Markham.
